  • Account Information (via Google Sign-In): When you create an account using Google Sign-In, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from your Google account. We do not collect phone numbers or other direct authentication credentials as we rely solely on Google for this.
  • Order Information: Details about your order, including menu items, quantities, special instructions, payment method (excluding sensitive card data), and any promo codes applied.
  • Delivery Information: Your precise delivery address (street, building, apartment number) and any specific delivery notes.
  • Communications: Records of your communications with us, including customer support inquiries.

B. Information Collected Automatically

  • Location Information: We collect your precise device location (GPS and network-based) to identify nearby restaurants, facilitate order delivery, track rider progress, and calculate delivery fees. You can control location permissions through your device settings, but disabling them may affect the functionality of the Service.
  • Usage Data: Information about how you use the Service, such as the pages/screens you view, features you interact with, restaurants you browse, and the time and duration of your activities.
  • Device Information: Information about your mobile device, including the device model, operating system, and unique device identifiers.
  • Transaction Information: Details related to your purchases and transactions within the Service (e.g., order history).

C. Information from Third Parties

  • Google Sign-In: As noted above, we receive your basic account details (name, email, profile picture) from Google when you sign in. This is governed by Google's Privacy Policy and your Google privacy settings.
  • Firebase Authentication: We use Google's Firebase Authentication to manage your user session securely.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following essential purposes:

  • Providing and Maintaining the Service: To operate, deliver, and improve the functionality of MunchiesApp, including processing your orders and facilitating deliveries.
  • Personalizing Your Experience: To tailor your experience, recommend restaurants, and offer relevant promotions.
  • Order Fulfillment: To process your orders, communicate with restaurants and riders, track delivery progress, and calculate delivery fees.
  • Authentication and Account Management: To verify your identity, manage your account created via Google Sign-In, and ensure secure access.
  • Communication: To send you transactional updates (order confirmations, delivery status) and customer support responses. We only send marketing or promotional communications if you opt-in.
  • Analytics and Improvement: To understand user interaction, monitor performance, and improve our features and user experience.
  • Security and Fraud Prevention: To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security risks.
  • Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws and governmental requests.

3. How We Share Your Information

We only share your information with the following parties as necessary to provide our Service:

  • Restaurants: We share your order details and delivery address with the restaurant preparing your food to fulfill your order.
  • Riders: We share your delivery address, name, and contact information with the assigned rider to facilitate delivery. We also share your location with riders for efficient tracking.
  • Service Providers: We engage third-party companies and individuals to perform services on our behalf, such as Firebase, Google Maps, and Payment Processors (e.g., M-Pesa Integration).
  • Legal and Regulatory Authorities: As required by law, such as in response to a court order or government request.
  • Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
  • With Your Consent: For any other purpose with your explicit consent.

4. Data Security & Retention

Data Security: We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

Data Retention: We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy or as required by law. When your information is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymize it.

5. Your Choices and Rights

  • Access and Correction: You can access and update your account information directly within the app.
  • Location Permissions: You can enable or disable location services for our app through your device settings at any time.
  • Marketing Communications: You can opt-out of promotional communications by following unsubscribe instructions.
  • Account Deletion: You can delete your account and all associated data at any time directly through the Settings menu within the MunchiesApp.

6. Third-Party Services

By using our Service, you are also subject to the privacy policies of third-party services like Google Play Services, Firebase, Google Maps Platform, and M-Pesa Integration.

7. Children's Privacy

Our Service is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13.
